A sensational claim has been made regarding Arsenal's transfer plans.
Arsenal are celebrating a 3-0 away win in their Champions League qualifier this evening, alleviating the pressure which had built up around the club.
Arsene Wenger said post-game, 'our transfer window starts now'.
And there is no time to hang about, with the window closing in under two weeks.
The Telegraph linked the Gunners with a move for Karim Benzema earlier this evening, and an even more sensational claim has since been made.
BBC journalist David Ornstein has claimed the Gunners are chasing four players, and could spend up to £100 million.
He named Madrid winger Angel di Maria as one of the other options, adding a defender and goalkeeper are also priorities.
PSG are also chasing Di Maria, who recently said he is keen to stay at the Bernabeu, but began their first game of the season on the bench.
He had been linked with Spurs as part of a switch for Gareth Bale, but did not want to join them as there was no Champiobs League football on offer.
Our assessment of the Arsenal-Benzema deal can be found here, and it is that it may just depend on Gareth Bale being bought by Madrid.
Fans would be right to be sceptical considering the false promises the club have made so far this summer, but wiser fans have said 'let's judge it at the end of the transfer window.'
It promises to be quite a fortnight ahead, and they may just be right. If Arsenal do spend that sort of money, calm will once again surely be restored at the Emirates.
What do you think about the claim, is it over-optimistic?
