Richard Wright

Signed for £6 million in 2001, Wright was billed as a long-term replacement for the ageing David Seaman. But his one-season Arsenal career was blighted by mishap, including a comical punch into his own net in a 4-2 defeat to Charlton. Wright slipped behind academy ‘keeper Stuart Taylor in the pecking order and was allowed to join Everton the following summer, after just 12 league appearances for the Gunners.
